Really great stuff here! I've rarely seen a gallery where I like almost all the artwork.

Lots of cute, weird, cool paintings and drawings and sculpture, and some stuff for sale...enjoy!

Baby Ticker Flash Widget

I'm not pregnant but everyone else seems to be, and I've been seeing this nifty widget around. It shows you what stage your baby is in its development in the womb.

However, don't change the size, I tried to make it bigger and a very disturbing growth appeared, which I suppose was the umbilical cord but nevertheless I don't recommend messing with the size!!

Are CDs Dead?

I have a huge pile of CDs sitting on my desk...old Siouxsie & the Banshees (my god! i used to have it on tape!) Blonde Redhead, ska compilations someone made for me...I get all nostalgic looking at them...but I'm having a dilemma: besides some of them being scratched and therefore un-listenable, THEY TAKE UP SO MUCH SPACE!!

Is it time for me to let go?? Save them as mp3s on my hard drive and give my crate-full of CDs to my little sister?

It's sad when old formats die.

Vote on your Favorite Architecture on the AIA150's America's Favorite Architecture Website

A few months ago, I had the great experience of working on a kiosk and website with C&G Partners, which you can still see online at www.favoritearchitecture.org. The American Institute of Architects was celebrating its 150th anniversary and commissioned C&G Partners to design a "green" exhibit (which you can see here), a website, and an interactive kiosk for the exhibit.

The AIA had already whittled America's Favorites down to 150 buildings through a series of polls they conducted with professional architects as well as the general public. The kiosk and website allow additional voting by the greater "online" public -- needless to say a lot of controversy and discussion emerged from it!! In case you are curious, the Empire State Building, which was the original #1, has nothing to do with the online #1 favorite!

Which ones are your favorites? You can still vote and find out what other people think on the website. For best results select "FULL SCREEN VERSION"

The last time I checked it out, these were the results (you only see them after you have voted, but here is a sneak peek!):

17 year old makes millions on MySpace Designs

This teenage girl is a multi-millionaire because she designs MySpace Pages!!! Wow, wish I'd thought of that first...What an inspiring story!

Whateverlife.com is her site, and her name is Ashley Qualls. Check out the video on CNN >

Her site's kind of down right now (probably all the media traffic!) but here's a good article from doshdosh that explains how she did it.

Mostly, she got a ton of traffic and then sold ad space! With that, she makes (according to the media) $70K a month. You go, girl!

Zipcar Reservations On Your Mobile Device

Zipcar just launched some mobile apps that let you reserve on your phone, which I think is really useful, and a GPS car locator if you are lucky enough to have GPS on your phone.

This makes it so much easier and quicker to go from "wish i had a car right now" to actually having a car you can use, without having to be in front of your computer.

Hooray for non-car-owners!
check out the press release >

I look forward to seeing more useful mobile apps in the future, as people realize that one is not always sitting at one's desk when one needs information & services!

Design Meltdown: a great resource for designers!

My site was featured a while ago on DesignMeltdown.com and I just wanted to say that it has turned out to be a site that I go to often for inspiration because it has a ton of resources and ideas for web design. If I feel like I'm getting stuck making the same kinds of layouts over and over again, or I'm looking for interface design solutions to things I haven't tackled before, it's always a great place to go.

here's the link to where my portfolio site is featured. the article talks about using a grid in web design.

Cute printables: 3D friends you just cut, and fold, and tape together

Readymech (readymech.com) has some cute little monsters you can print out and snip and tape or glue together to make a toy you can put on your desk to keep you company. Instant friends!

They're made by different artists but the site seems to be by Fwis, who has a very cool portfolio as well (fwis.com) which includes categories such as "we didn't get paid" and "client didn't get it"

Apple Offering $100 Store Credit For All iPhone early adopters

Breaking news:

Steve Jobs has published an open letter to iPhone buyers which mentions that Apple is aware of the distress (see my earlier post!) that early buyers went through when they saw the price cut, and...
"Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple's website next week. Stay tuned."

thanks to Mohit for the heads up.

iPhone disappointment

Apple just lowered the price of the iPhone by $200, only 2 months after it came out. I bought one right when it was released, and I'm really disappointed.

After all the trouble of waiting for it to be released and getting one early, I feel like we early adopters are being punished. We had to deal with ATT and Apple giving out conflicting information about their phone plans, spotty network service and dropped calls, visual voicemail suddenly disappearing for good (it was a major reason i got the phone in the first place) and now they're telling us that we paid $200 too much for our trouble on top of it all.

I feel like a sucker and certainly won't be the first to buy an Apple product again.

(if you had the same experience, I recommend going here and telling them: http://www.apple.com/iphone/share/ )
